ZAKA Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

ZAKA (zakahomes.app) is operated by Marcelo Teixeira, based in Mindelo, Cape Verde. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights over it.

2. What We Collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and password (encrypted), and role (homeowner, renter, or buyer)
• Optional profile information: phone number, profile photo
• Listings: property details and photos you upload if you're a homeowner
• Location data: when you search or enter an address, we use Google's Places/Maps service to convert it into a precise location, which we store to power search and maps
• Bookings, inquiries, and reviews: dates, messages, and ratings you submit through the platform
• Basic technical data: your browser's local storage is used to remember your session and language preference

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to operate the marketplace: creating your account, displaying your listings, connecting bookings and inquiries between users, calculating review averages, and sending you in-app notifications about activity on your account.

4. Who We Share Data With

We use trusted service providers to run ZAKA:

• Supabase, our database, authentication, and file storage provider
• Google Maps/Places API, to power address search and location display

5. Your Rights

Under Cape Verde's data protection law (Law 133/V/2001, as amended), and overseen by the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados Pessoais (CNPD), you have the right to: know what personal data we hold about you; access and receive a copy of it; correct inaccurate or outdated data; object to how it's processed; and request that it be deleted. 6. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. You may request account and data deletion at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

ZAKA is not intended for use by anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as ZAKA grows. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
